The Kingdom of God

June 4, 2016

1 Chronicles 29--11Found in the section of scripture that is part of “David’s Prayer,” offered when the Temple was completed, the Verse of the Day for June 4, 2016 expresses the greatness of God and His kingdom:

1 Chronicles 29:11 (AMP):

Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and on the earth; Yours is the dominion and kingdom, O Lord, and You exalt Yourself as head over all.

Here is the section of “David’s last prayer,” a doxology giving glory to God, expressed in the Amplified Bible:

1 Chronicles 29:10-13:

David’s Prayer

10 Therefore David blessed the Lord in the sight of all the assembly and said, “Blessed (praised, adored, and thanked) are You, O Lord God of Israel (Jacob) our father, forever and ever. 11 Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and on the earth; Yours is the dominion and kingdom, O Lord, and You exalt Yourself as head over all. 12 Both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all. In Your hand is power and might; and it is in Your hands to make great and to give strength to everyone. 13 Now therefore, our God, we thank You, and praise Your glorious name.

This section of Scripture reminds us of the vastness of the Kingdom of God which rules over all for all eternity. The lyrics to the Hallelujah Chorus of Handel’s Messiah resound in our ears, not only during the holidays, but the scriptures remind us that “The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever.”

The Psalmist also declares, “The Lord has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all.” Daniel 4:3 also makes known: How great are his signs! And how mighty are his wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation. The Kingdom of God that shall reign over all the earth is part of the unfolding vision revealed in Daniel 7:27 (AMP):

27 Then the kingdom and the dominion and the greatness of all the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be given to the people of the saints (believers) of the Most High; His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all the dominions will serve and obey Him.’

In the passage commonly called the Lord’s Prayer, we note references to “The Kingdom” in the prayer Jesus Christ taught his disciples to pray:

Matthew 6:9-13 (AMP)

“Pray, then, in this way:

‘Our Father who is in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10
‘Your kingdom come,
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
11
‘Give us this day our daily bread.
12
‘And forgive us our debts, as we have forgiven our debtors [letting go of both the wrong and the resentment].
13
‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.]’

The Verse of the Day and related scriptures remind us that God Almighty  is sovereign, omnipotent, omniscient, the all-wise ruler  of heaven and earth. The Kingdom of God abides within us, and we are presently

Living in the Realm of the Kingdom of God

Nor will people say, Look! Here [it is]! or, See, [it is] there!

For behold, the kingdom of God is within you [in your hearts]

and among you [surrounding you].

Luke 17:21

In this place of transition where God makes covenant

We find the comfort that we seek and the sweet release

Of the Jubilee extended to each bondservant.

Though turmoil surrounds us, we are kept in perfect peace

With a blessed assurance that we are ever secure,

Abiding under the shadow of the Almighty,

But we must wait with patience and not faint but endure.

While pressing toward the mark for the prize of the victory,

We are living in the realm of the Kingdom of God,

As we submit our lives to Kingdom authority

And respond to each fiery trial with the Word of God.

No longer in bondage, we are redeemed and set free.

“It is written”: the true standard where we always find

Strength to triumph, transformed in the spirit of our mind.

A new song of praise by David Baroni boldly proclaims “The Kingdom of God is Here”:
