From Matthew 24:35 (NIV) comes the Verse of the Day for July 6, 2015:
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
Just as the words of Jesus Christ are eternal, those who believe those words obtain eternal life.
John 5:24 [Amplified Bible] states the message this way:
I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, the person whose ears are open to My words [who listens to My message] and believes and trusts in and clings to and relies on Him Who sent Me has (possesses now) eternal life. And he does not come into judgment [does not incur sentence of judgment, will not come under condemnation], but he has already passed over out of death into life.
John 5:25 (NKJ) makes clear this revelation:
Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.
This messages is reiterated in John 8:51 [Amplified Bible]
I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, if anyone observes My teaching [lives in accordance with My message, keeps My word], he will by no means ever see and experience death.
Jesus goes on to explain the source of eternal life: John 6:63 (NLT):
The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.
How comforting to know that that when we hear the life-giving words that Jesus spoke and trust in or rely on those words, we inherit eternal life. The Verse of the Day and related passages from the Gospels remind us that “Jesus Never Fails”:
