Ephesians 1:7: Jesus paid it all

Ephesians-1 7

The message of the Verse of Day for April 4, 2014 is magnified in the Amplified Bible:

In Him we have redemption (deliverance and salvation) through His blood, the remission (forgiveness) of our offenses (shortcomings and trespasses), in accordance with the riches and the generosity of His gracious favor,

Listen to a devotional based on Ephesians 1:7 written by Charles Haddon Spurgeon, Britain’s best known preacher of the latter half of the 19th Century.

Jesus Christ is a complete Savior, in whom we have everything that we need. As followers of Christ, we have been redeemed and delivered from the powers of darkness. We have been set free: The lyrics to a familiar hymn composed by Elvina M. Hall in 1865 come to mind, as the Verse of the Day reinforces the message that

Jesus Paid It All

1. I hear the Savior say,
“Thy strength indeed is small;
Child of weakness, watch and pray,
Find in Me thine all in all.”

Refrain:
Jesus paid it all,
All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow.

2. For nothing good have I
Whereby Thy grace to claim;
I’ll wash my garments white
In the blood of Calvary’s Lamb

3. And now complete in Him,
My robe, His righteousness,
Close sheltered ’neath His side,
I am divinely blest.

4. Lord, now indeed I find
Thy pow’r, and Thine alone,
Can change the leper’s spots
And melt the heart of stone.

5. When from my dying bed
My ransomed soul shall rise,
“Jesus died my soul to save,”
Shall rend the vaulted skies.

6. And when before the throne
I stand in Him complete,
I’ll lay my trophies down,
all down at Jesus’ feet.

This message of freedom is reinforced in the video medley of “Jesus Paid It All” and “O Praise the One.”

    Hmm it seems like your site ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I
    wrote and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog.
    I too am an aspiring blog blogger but I’m still new to the whole thing.
    Do you have any helpful hints for rookie blog writers?
    I’d certainly appreciate it.

      Thanks so much for your kind words. I appreciate your stopping by Dr. J’s Apothecary Shoppe. Regarding your blog, my advice is to have fun. Allow the spirit of God to work within you. Be creative and experiment, incorporating music, photography, graphics, and other media, if you are so moved. The Scriptures exhort us to mediate upon these things, the written Word and God’s revelation to you personally, give yourself wholly to them so that your profiting may appear to all.

      I really enjoyed your devotional on John 3:16. I was deeply touched by poignant narrative that you share. Great post!

      Praise God!

      Dr. J
