Ever striving to be God’s abode, special dwelling place

John_14-23

As I reflected upon the Verse of the Day, for September 6, 2013, John 14:23 in the King James Version, I also took a look at the verse in the Amplified Bible:

John 14: 23

Jesus answered, If a person [really] loves Me, he will keep My word [obey My teaching]; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home (abode, special dwelling place) with him.

The familiar hymn, “Abide with Me” also came to mind, and I discovered this moving rendition by the Antrim Mennonite Choir with beautiful accompanying photos.

My thoughts also turned to the opening verse of Psalm 91:

He who dwells in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the almighty.

Here is Psalm 91 offered as a song “My God, In Him, I Will Trust” (Christian Scripture Praise Worship Lyrics) by Esther Mui.

As I continued to reflect upon the Psalm 91, I recalled that I had made a blog entry related to God’s dwelling place back in 2011. Here is a link to that entry which also includes the lyrics to “Abide with Me” as well as an original poem expressing my heart’s desire to become a dwelling place for God: “Times of Visitation”
